First Steps Project – two roles

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team to provide integrated support for economically inactive residents in the Hirst area of Ashington, to move towards work, education or training.

This role will engage with beneficiaries to provide individually tailored support enabling them to build personal transferrable skills and improve their mental health and wellbeing as part of a journey towards and into sustained training and the world of work as part of a new Economic Inactivity Trailblazer. This is a programme that helps people who are currently out of work because of health issues. It brings together health, employment, and skills services so that people get joined-up support to improve their wellbeing and move back into work when they’re ready.

Coach Counsellor (up to 35 hours per week – part time and job sharing will be considered) - £27,456 pa (pro rata for part time)

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced, and suitably qualified counsellor to come into this exciting pilot project and put their mark on it and be part of making it a success. You must be someone who has an interest, skills, and/or experience in supporting beneficiaries to move towards their journey towards the world of work and into employment – and will work in a broad way to offer a tailored holistic coaching and counselling offer.

Post-holders will offer one-to-one counselling and some group work, and this is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about supporting the mental health of both adults and young people aged 18-64.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised Foundation Degree or Diploma in Counselling and membership of the BACP or other approved governing body.
