Classical Ballet Teacher (Saturday’s) – Birmingham
Fixed-term contract for up to 12 months

Purpose of Job:

Principal, Artistic Director, members of the Artistic
Team, Accompanists, Colleagues in other Faculty
Areas – Dance and Pastoral/Boarding.

5.5 hours per week on Saturday’s. The majority
of hours between 08:45 – 14:45 (may need to be
available for extra hours if required including the
Young  Dancers Intensive held at the end of the
spring term).

The Ballet Teacher will lead a well-planned and relevant ballet curriculum as advised
by Elmhurst. The successful candidate will ensure that there are high standards of
teaching, learning and assessment in ballet lessons.

The Teacher will be an essential member of the Saturday Artistic Team and
contribute towards the excellent artistic outcomes for students.

The successful candidate will work towards fulfilling the School’s commitment to a
high-quality artistic education relevant to the programme and will promote and
embody the school’s ethos, the Elmhurst Way.

Accountabilities:

1.  To work within the Saturday Artistic Team constructively and effectively.
2.  To be an excellent classroom practitioner
3.  To keep up to date with key national and local initiatives impacting on subject

delivery.

4.  To monitor the progress of pupils according to the current policies.
5.  To  contribute  to  School  Self-Review  &  the  School  Development  Plan  as

required.

6.  To provide key contributions to faculty meetings as required.
7.  To be prepared to work with colleagues within the faculty and in other faculty

areas to meet whole school objectives.

8.  To support the development of the whole school culture and ethos of the

‘Elmhurst Way’ with colleagues and students.

9.  To adhere to the Elmhurst Way and the Professional Code of Conduct at all

times.

10. To  be  prepared  to  undertake  such  other  tasks,  as  the  Director  of  Dance

Training, Principal or Artistic Director may reasonably deem necessary.

11. To write short annual reports for students

To  be  prepared  to  initiate  and  participate  in  additional  events  in  order  to  promote
high standards within the Department and the School community.

General

12. Attend and participate in staff and working group meetings and training as

appropriate.

13. Adhere to and work within Elmhurst School practices and policies including

those relating to Equal Opportunities.
