Fundraising Trustee (Voluntary position)

Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN) is a UK-based charity recognised for its work to reduce malnutrition globally. We enhance the effectiveness of nutrition policy and programming by improving knowledge, stimulating learning, connecting key actors, and building evidence. We are passionate about being field-driven, independent, and evidence-based. Our vision is that every individual caught up in a nutritional emergency, or suffering from malnutrition anywhere in the world, gets the most effective help possible.

Through our collaborations with governments, UN agencies, civil society, academia, and donors, we support agencies and individuals to implement evidence-based nutrition programming, predominantly in low- and middle-income countries and in fragile and conflict-affected states.

The Role

ENN is seeking to strengthen its Board of Trustees with the appointment of a Fundraising Trustee. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in shaping ENN’s fundraising strategy and supporting the organisation to expand its funding base.

You will bring strategic vision, proven fundraising expertise, and a passion for supporting ENN’s mission to reduce malnutrition worldwide. Working closely with ENN’s Management Team and fellow Trustees, you will provide technical insight, guidance, and challenge to help ENN deliver ever greater impact.

What You’ll Do

As Fundraising Trustee, you will:

  • Support ENN to assess where fundraising fits within the overall strategy and ensure effective income generation.
  • Provide insight into expanding our funding base, particularly from the private sector and new foundations.
  • Contribute knowledge of fundraising tools, techniques, and approaches.
  • Encourage an entrepreneurial fundraising culture and advise on prioritising fundraising streams.
  • Monitor progress against the fundraising strategy and provide constructive challenge and support to the Management Team.
  • Actively participate in quarterly Board meetings and relevant sub-committees, contributing to strategic discussions and organisational development.
  • Safeguard and uphold ENN’s values, policies, and reputation.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • A substantial background in fundraising and income generation, particularly with private or corporate sectors.
  • A proven track record of success at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Strong networking and communication skills, with the ability to engage corporate organisations and other partners.
  • Understanding of the opportunities and challenges of fundraising for small, globally focused charities.
  • Commitment to ENN’s mission and willingness to contribute time, expertise, and advice.

Desired

  • Previous experience serving on a Board or in senior-level committees.
  • Familiarity with the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship.
  • Experience in the international development or humanitarian sector.

What We Offer

  • An opportunity to make a tangible contribution to global efforts to reduce malnutrition.
  • A collaborative and values-driven Board of Trustees.
  • Induction and orientation to support you in your role.
  • Flexible involvement, with most Board and committee meetings held remotely. One in-person meeting is usually scheduled every two years at ENN’s office in Kidlington, Oxfordshire.

Commitment

The expected time commitment is around 4 half-day Board meetings per year, plus one sub-committee and occasional additional support as agreed. This is a voluntary role; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

How to Apply

Please send a brief CV and a short covering letter outlining how your experience aligns with this role to recruitment@ennonline.net.

Applications will be accepted until 28 September 2025, but we may close recruitment early if a suitable candidate is identified.
