Contract:Zero hours
Salary:£13.69 p/hour
Location:High Street, Northallerton
Closing date:Sunday 19th October 2025
Interview date:We will interview applicants as we receive them
Working as a Cover Supervisor gives you the ultimate flexibility to plan your life around work with hours to cover holidays, busy periods and staff absence. It’s a great opportunity for someone with retail management experience who enjoys variety and thrives in a community-focused environment!
We’re right on the high street, next to the pedestrian crossing – so you won’t miss us (and neither does anyone else, judging by the footfall!) and Fridays are market days, which means we’re extra lively. Donations keep us busy, volunteers keep us laughing and customers keep us on our toes.
More about the role
Customer service is at the heart of what we do. You’ll make sure shoppers always get a warm welcome (two-legged or four!) and that the shop feels like a friendly place to pop into. Whenever the chance comes up, you’ll proudly fly the flag for Blue Cross and the incredible work we do for pets and people.
On the sales side, you’ll be encouraging Gift Aid sign-ups, collecting donations and making sure every item is priced just right to raise as much as we can. You’ll be making sure the shop floor looks great and stays well stocked; from eye-catching window displays to tidy rails and shelves, you’ll keep everything looking appealing, safe and ready to be bought.
You’ll be leading and supporting our wonderful team of volunteers, making sure the day runs smoothly while keeping the mood positive and the laughs flowing. Whether it’s giving clear guidance, sharing shop updates, or just cheering the team on, you’ll help everyone feel confident and valued.
About you
You’ll bring previous retail experience, including some time spent supervising or managing and you’ll be confident working with all sorts of customers. Flexibility is important as shifts vary so you’ll be happy to jump in when needed. You’ll also be organised, practical and ready to get stuck into whatever the day brings.
🐾 Support and motivate our wonderful volunteers

🐾 Keep the shop floor looking its best
