Role Overview As a Governance Officer (Volunteer), you'll play a crucial role in strengthening governance practices across Magen David Adom UK. Working closely with the Head of Operations and CEO, you'll support the development and implementation of governance frameworks, ensure regulatory compliance, and help embed a culture of accountability and transparency throughout the organisation. Key Responsibilities Trustee Engagement & Support Provide administrative and advisory support to trustees on governance matters. Ensure trustees have access to up-to-date policies, guidance documents, and training resources. Direct trustees to relevant regulatory frameworks and best practice materials. Governance & Compliance Coordinate trustee and committee meetings, including agenda preparation, accurate minute- taking, and timely distribution of documentation. Manage governance registers (e.g., register of interests, policy register, risk register), ensuring they're current and compliant. Facilitate the onboarding process for new trustees, ensuring all documentation is completed and securely stored. Policy & Risk Management Assist in the development, review, and implementation of key governance policies (e.g., Conflict of Interest, Risk Management, Whistleblowing). Support team leads in embedding policies into operational practices. Monitor compliance with Charity Commission regulations and the Fundraising Code of Practice. Promoting a Governance Culture Champion governance awareness across the organisation. Support the delivery of internal training sessions and briefings on governance best practices. Help integrate governance principles into strategic and operational decision-making. Person Specification Essential: Demonstrated interest or experience in charity governance, compliance, or risk management. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Strong organisational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams. Desirable: Familiarity with Charity Commission guidance and UK charity governance standards. Additional Information This is a voluntary position.
