At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Mental Health Specialist to play a pivotal role in our Modern Slavery Response Service in London.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

To provide specialist mental health advice, support, and advocacy to victims of trafficking in the Modern Slavery Response Team. To help identify and navigate risk, create case formulations, and ensure service users are linked into all the supports they need. To build capacity within the advocacy team through training, reflective practice, workshops, and resource development, so that service users experience trauma-informed, consistent, high quality care.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

Here's what the team will be looking for

You will bring demonstrable experience of working with people affected by trauma, mental health difficulties, homelessness, trafficking, or displacement/refugee backgrounds. With a strong knowledge of mental health issues, trauma-informed approaches, risk assessment, and case formulation, you will be confident in providing effective, person-centred support. You will also have a solid understanding of statutory obligations and legal frameworks, including safeguarding, human rights, and mental health law.

Your experience will include advocacy and navigating complex systems such as health, housing, and legal services on behalf of vulnerable individuals. A strong communicator, you will be able to develop and deliver training and resources while engaging effectively with a diverse range of service users. Resilient in emotionally challenging situations, you will demonstrate cultural competence, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Organised and adaptable, you will be able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accurate records and monitoring outcomes. You will be committed to dignified, respectful, person-centred care and willing to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility, reflective practice, supervision, and ongoing professional development will form part of your approach, ensuring you remain effective and responsive to the needs of those you support.
