About Us

Surrey Hills Equine is a small, proudly independent ambulatory practice based between Guildford and Dorking in the heart of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The practice is led by a full-time senior clinician with over 20 years’ experience across all aspects of equine ambulatory practice, with a particular focus on orthopaedics and sports medicine, supported by another part-time senior colleague.

We deliver top-quality, evidence-based veterinary care with empathy, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Our patients range from sport to pleasure horses, offering a diverse caseload of orthopaedics, internal medicine, routine, and emergency care throughout Surrey, West Sussex, and Kent.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated Equine Veterinary Surgeon — part-time or full-time — to join our expanding caseload.

What makes this role unique is the chance to work directly alongside the senior vet who founded and built the practice, bringing more than two decades of experience in equine ambulatory medicine, orthopaedics, and sports medicine. This structure creates a rare opportunity, whether you are early in your career or already experienced:

For a recent intern: you will have the chance to rapidly upskill and gain independence under the direct mentorship of an experienced clinician, with close support to develop confidence in managing a varied ambulatory caseload.

For an experienced equine vet: this is an opportunity to collaborate with another seasoned colleague in a supportive independent setting — without the frustrations of corporate environments — where autonomy, mutual respect, and professional standards come first.

This is your chance to be part of a small but ambitious independent practice where clinical excellence, genuine collegiality, and a balanced lifestyle are at the heart of how we work.
