Job Specification For: Project Engineer Ref: VR/01403 Job Description Project Engineer (mechanical bias) Medway, Kent Full-time, Permanent We’re currently looking for a mechanically biased Project Engineer to join our growing team, taking ownership of engineering projects from initial enquiry through to delivery. This is a key role for the business and offers initial training, along with long term career progression for the right person. Overview: The company provides industrial machinery installation, removal, relocation and mechanical maintenance services to customers in a wide range of industries. Operating primarily in the Southeast, but also throughout the rest of the UK when needed, we take pride in providing a first-class service for all our customers, whether for a single machine movement or full multi-disciplined project. Each job is different and has its own unique challenges, which keeps our work interesting and varied. Our primary interest is in the UK manufacturing sector; however, we also work with plant engineering companies (handling boilers, air-handling-units, process skids, etc.) and recycling companies. The job is based from our office in the Medway Towns but will involve travel to our customers’ place of business, occasionally staying out overnight. We are keen to receive applications from anyone with direct or transferrable skills/experience for the following main duties: Main responsibilities of the role: • Attend enquiry meetings and carry out technical site surveys for the removal, installation or relocation of a wide range of industrial machinery, plant and equipment. • Prepare a program of work (depending on size of project), detailed costings and professional quotations for enquiries (using the company templates and processes). • Negotiate to successfully win quoted work, whilst minimising company risk. • Prepare method statements, risk assessments, lift plans, etc. Job Specification provided by: Sappers Network RHQ RE, Ravelin Building Brompton Barracks Chatham, ME4 4UG Tele: +44-(0)7496 083483 Page 1 • Liaise with Operations Manager and Site Foreman on the requirements for secured work (labour, plant, equipment & materials, etc.) and maintain a high-level overview to ensure the job progresses in accordance with the plan & budget. • Capture and agree any variations with the customer to keep budgets on track. • Debrief with the team on job completion to capture and communicate issues, lessons learned, future opportunities, etc. Who we are looking for: • Mechanical engineering experience (plant / machinery installations or maintenance) • Knowledge of heavy handling (Rigging) processes • Working knowledge of site health & safety. • Be organised, adaptable and flexible in your approach to work. • Strong communication and negotiation skills (at all levels) • Ability to maintain a professional attitude at all times, even under pressure. • Ability to build new customer relationships and maintain/improve existing. • A can-do attitude and problem-solving skills. • Excellent time keeping and attendance. • Good IT skills (office packages and ideally some basic CAD experience for crane plans) • Be an effective contributor to the team and business. • Appointed Person qualification for lifting operations (training can be provided for the right candidate). • You will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
