We’re looking for a creative communications professional with great organisational skills to keep our community informed on everything that’s happening at Birmingham Newman and encourage prospective students to join our University.

If you’re keen to sit alongside friendly, hard-working colleagues, like to be ‘in the know’, and enjoy writing and event planning, this could be the perfect role for you!

The post of Communications and Events Manager will see you managing communications across several platforms and stakeholder groups which include staff, students and partners. You’ll also be the University’s go-to person for planning and coordinating events, working on exciting projects ranging from Open Days to Staff Awards ceremonies.

The successful candidate will need to balance a varied workload, and regularly employ their strong written and verbal communication skills. Being organised will be a must, as will working closely with your marketing and communications teammates in the Directorate for Student Recruitment.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Planning and executing communications campaigns for both staff and students
  • Ensuring a timely flow of information to staff, students and partners
  • Managing the digital screen network and corporate intranet pages
  • Working on, and uploading, content that appears on the intranet, digital screens and the ‘Newman app’
  • Delivering a calendar of on-site campus events to support recruitment activities
  • Managing the event process from planning, organising invitations, staffing, catering, room bookings, and liaison with external suppliers
  • Budget management to support Open Days and other events

Informal enquiries about this opportunity are very welcome. Please contact K.Gabriel@staff.newman.ac.uk, to discuss the role further.
