About Group Legal and Governance

In Group Legal and Governance (GLG), we use our expertise to help the organisation make decisions that are right for Which? and consumers.

About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to support and challenge the organisation to make risk-aware decisions, and manage key risks in line with our group-wide risk management framework. You will also support our co-source internal audit partner to deliver high quality, value-adding audits and oversee their performance and spend.

This role reports into our Head of Risk, Governance and Regulatory Compliance.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Promoting a positive risk-aware culture in everything Which? does
  • Advising, supporting and challenging the organisation, including the Leadership Team, to identify and prioritise key risks and opportunities, develop mitigation plans and assess alignment with risk appetite
  • Preparing regular risk reporting to relevant oversight groups - including the Leadership Team, Group Audit & Risk Committee, Boards and Council of Trustees
  • Supporting our co-source internal audit partner and Which? Teams in delivering successful audits and developing the annual audit plan and championing internal audit at Which?
  • Maintaining and improving the group-wide integrated assurance map and helping the Group Audit and Risk Committee use it to inform appropriate and proportionate assurance activity plans

About you:

  • You'll be an experienced risk professional with expertise in risk identification, analysis and reporting and familiarity with integrated assurance. Ideally, you'll have a qualification in accounting, risk or audit.
  • You'll have an in-depth understanding of business risk frameworks and key controls. Ideally you will have an understanding of the commercial dynamics of a subscription model and/or online digital publishing and bring an understanding of internal audit planning cycles and have experience managing or overseeing internal audit partners.
  • You'll have a restless curiosity and will be capable of seeing and articulating the bigger picture.
  • You'll have a flexible approach to your work and will be confident dealing with senior stakeholders and will build strong relationships across the organisation. You'll be highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines.

Our interview process usually involves two stages:-

  • A first-round interview via video (approximately 45- 90 minutes) consisting of values and experience-based competency questions
  • A second interview via video with a role-related task and further values and experience-based competency questions (approximately 30-60 minutes)
