About us

At Macmillan you'll find talented people working together to do whatever it takes to support people living with cancer. We're going all out to find even better ways to help even more people who need our support. Our values are at the heart of who we are and everything we do, inspiring our thinking and guiding our actions.

About the role

At Macmillan, we believe every supporter deserves a meaningful experience. As our Senior Stewardship & Development Manager, you’ll lead the strategic development and delivery of personalised, insight-led stewardship across the Relationship Fundraising portfolio. This includes developing and launching stewardship journeys for supporters, eventers, corporate partners, and community fundraisers. You’ll champion a supporter-first approach and ensure every touchpoint strengthens relationships and drives long-term engagement and income growth.

You’ll collaborate across Macmillan’s various departments with internal stakeholders to influence and shape how we steward supporters, ensuring performance is measured and insights are used to drive continuous improvement. You’ll also play a vital role in designing and embedding processes, tools, and training that enables our Relationship Fundraising team to deliver outstanding supporter experiences and make every interaction count.

What you’ll do

· Lead strategic stewardship: Work with the Head of Relationship Fundraising, Demand Team, and Supporter Acquisition & Retention Team to design and implement tailored supporter journeys that optimise resources and deliver measurable impact.

· Collaborate across teams: Engage product and audience teams to deliver bespoke stewardship activities, ensuring performance is tracked and evaluated and reported.

· Use insight to drive action: Partner with the Insight and Performance team to identify supporter characteristics that respond best to personalised engagement—and use this data to influence strategic priorities.

· Equip fundraising teams: Design and deliver tools, resources, guidance documents and policies that enable Relationship Fundraising teams to maximise return on investment and deepen supporter relationships.

· Embed best practice: Create processes and guidance that help teams steward high-potential supporters and grow long-term income.

· Project manage with purpose: Oversee the development, rollout, and ongoing improvement of stewardship journeys, ensuring alignment with fundraising goals and a seamless supporter experience.

· Support communications: Contribute to the development of supporter-facing materials, including templates for campaigns, appeals, and training content that communicate Macmillan’s compelling case for support.

· Maintain data integrity: Ensure accurate and up-to-date supporter records using CRM 2011, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 tools—making insights accessible across teams.

· Champion Macmillan’s values: Adhere to all relevant policies and contribute to the wider success of the organisation.

About you

We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of strategic stewardship and a passion for supporter engagement, and the ability to influence and negotiate across various teams. You’ll have:

· Proven experience in donor stewardship, relationship fundraising, or supporter engagement and retention

· A track record of designing and delivering successful stewardship strategies and supporter journeys

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders

· Knowledge of and confidence using CRM 2011, Power Bi, Canva, Page Tiger and all Microsoft 365 products to track supporter engagement and report on performance

· Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable insights.

· Project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and deliver impactful solutions and initiatives

· A proactive and collaborative approach and a commitment to Macmillan’s values and mission
