JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: LiveLife Project Coordinator Location: Based at one of the Lingen Davies Cancer Support offices in either Shrewsbury or Telford, as agreed. Working across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales, with specific responsibility for the Telford component of the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Cancer Champions project, with significant travel in the area. Hours: Full time (37.5hours) or 08.FTE (30 hours) per week. Hours will usually be worked between 7.30am and 6pm to meet the needs of the organisation. Flexible working times as well as evening and weekend work will be required. Main Purpose of the Role Delivering our community health engagement work, with a primary focus on cancer awareness raising to address health inequalities (early diagnosis, cancer screening and prevention), using a range of activities and settings to effectively engage with the public and target communities. This work is focussed in two areas: • Cancer Champions Project (focus on Telford). Working in partnership colleagues, along with NHS Shropshire Telford &Wrekin, and Qube, to deliver and maintain the Telford component of the project. • LiveLife community cancer awareness programme. Our Lingen Davies community health promotion initiative, bringing cancer awareness to communities across the region. These programmes of work are overlapping and complimentary, utilising the same community approaches and networks to engage our target audiences. The post will join the current LiveLife team, working with colleagues to ensure the projects are delivered across the region. Both projects aim to: a) positively contribute to the NHS England goal of 75 % of cancer cases diagnosed at stage 1 or 2 by 2028 b) increase cancer screening uptake in communities where this is low and to raise awareness of symptoms that should prompt presentation to health care providers. The post holder will utilise existing community networks and contacts to recruit, support and develop a network of community champions, and deliver LiveLife cancer awareness sessions across the region. Lingen Davies Cancer Support | December 2025 KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES PROGRAMME DELIVERY • Work collaboratively within the team colleagues to deliver a programme of LiveLife community cancer awareness activities, proving health promotion information to engage the public at a diverse range of community events and venues. • Contribute to the delivery of a Cancer Champions training programme. • Contribute to the maintenance and development of LiveLife and Cancer champion resources, such as websites, videos and cancer information sessions • Support our Cancer Champions through access to resources and networking so they can share current, relevant information with their peers and experts (face to face and virtual) • Engage with communities, particularly population groups with the highest cancer burden through both Live Life and the Cancer Champion projects to o promote and support people to take up cancer screening programmes. o increase awareness of the symptoms of cancer and signpost to services and support, building health literacy and personal agency, o work to understand views and perceptions of communities regarding cancer, cancer screening and prevention. • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of cancer information, screening programmes and local health outcomes, ensuring that our activities are relevant and targeted in appropriate communities. • Communicate effectively with a wide range of people in order to build and sustain effective and positive relationships across public, private, community and voluntary sectors, to develop relationships and joint working in support of LiveLife projects • Capture Cancer Champions feedback and experience understanding through our project governance system to generate better understanding of our communities, and how to improve cancer awareness and prevention projects. Collect relevant information to support the development of the project and to influence the development of local cancer services. VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT • Recruit, support and manage a diverse range of cancer champions from within communities and organisations. Support them through regular contact, training and advice. • Embed the Cancer Champions project into Lingen Davies’ LiveLife cancer awareness event programme. • Support LiveLife volunteers as and when required. Lingen Davies Cancer Support | December 2025 WORKING WITH OTHERS • Develop contacts with relevant stakeholders, including local NHS and government bodies, charities, community groups and businesses • Liaise regularly with relevant colleagues and partners: o to ensure implementation of project activities are on track and to ensure the impact of work is appropriately monitored and reported o in relation to any public-facing or communications aspects of each LiveLife health promotion activity, or partnership • Link local engagement and development of LiveLife and Cancer Champions to other local development opportunities and to national campaigns and ‘cancer awareness days’ as appropriate • Promote and publicise the LiveLife and Cancer Champions in collaboration with partners and the Lingen Davies communication team • Work with the wide Lingen Davies team to promote charity-wide initiatives MANAGING RESOURCES • Ensuring the Lingen Davies van and other community event resources are maintained, and fully stocked with relevant materials for cancer awareness activity as appropriate • Work to ensure the van is used to its full potential, balanced between health promotion, fundraising and general charity promotion activities • Researching and ordering cancer awareness and health promotion materials from statutory bodies, national campaigns and other relevant sources • Work in collaboration with the other LiveLife Project Coordinator, the Shropshire Cancer Champion Coordinator (Qube) and Powys Cancer Champion Coordinator to ensure the best outcomes for the project across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, and Powys. • Ensure that the necessary safeguards, governance, infrastructure and support is in place to enable LiveLife and Cancer Champions to operate safely and effectively. KEY RELATIONSHIPS The post-holder will: • Report to the Head of Services • Work closely with LiveLife colleagues. • Work with all Cancer Champion project partners, particularly Qube. • build and develop strong relationships with NHS partners, public, private voluntary and community organisations and groups. • be responsible for supporting Cancer Champions and managing those who volunteer for LiveLife cancer awareness activities as required. • You will work routinely with colleagues across the charity to ensure successful delivery of charity-wide projects Lingen Davies Cancer Support | December 2025 PROJECT MANAGEMENT • Work with colleagues to develop health promotion approaches and ensure these are in line with the wider strategic and operational plans of the charity • Ensure all projects are suitably planned, executed and evaluated • Provide monitoring reports as requested to the LiveLife lead and CEO RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL STAFF • Work collaboratively with colleagues from across the charity to share ideas, contacts, and opportunities. Support charity-wide initiatives and activities as required. • Build and maintain close relationships with colleagues across Lingen Davies, alerting them to potential health promotion and income generation opportunities and working collaboratively on key initiatives, including major events • Contribute to a positive working environment, including working collaboratively to overcome operational challenges and improving internal systems. • Be available for and represent the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund at publicity events, cheque presentations, etc. addressing audiences as appropriate and promoting the charity • Carry out other tasks that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role Person specification- LiveLife Coordinator Education • Educated to A Level standard or the ability to show equivalent professional • experience. Ideally, qualification/experience in public health, health promotion or community development.
