Ben Charles Head of Foundation Job Description Our Registrar for Lower Years works alongside the Registrar for Middle Years and Sixth Form, and is an integral member of the team responsible for the recruitment of pupils across the Foundation. Responsible for the 11+ and 12+ entry admissions and application process, the successful applicant will guide prospective families from the point of initial enquiry to enrolment, through the management of enquiries and applications both in person and by email, and whilst ensuring the Admissions databases are well managed and accurate. We are seeking a dynamic and personable individual to provide maternity cover for this position. As an ambassador for the King’s Foundation, the successful applicant will play a vital role in shaping the future of our Senior School by liaising with prospective families with warmth, professionalism, and integrity. This role requires an appreciation for, and understanding of, our school’s mission and values, as well as a passion for education and relationship-building. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, highly organised, and committed to delivering an exceptional experience for every applicant family. This is a fixed term maternity cover role, anticipated to commence at the end of January 2026, 30 hours per week to be worked across a minimum of 4 days, year-round. Salary An annual salary of £24,000 - £27,500 depending on experience (based on working 30 hours per week, year-round). Duties and responsibilities • Work across all aspects of the Foundation’s admissions process and pipeline management, with a view to optimising conversion of enquiries from external applicants, as well as overseeing the smooth transition of Year Six pupils from our two Prep Schools, King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s. • Plan, organise, book, and run private visits to the Senior School for those entering at 11+ and 12+. • Follow up on visits with appropriate methods of communications. • Respond to admissions queries from prospective parents and colleagues, including maintaining our admissions database for each enquiry. • Support applicants throughout the admissions process with timely communications and positive customer relationship management. • Ensure each applicant’s record accurately reflects all aspects of the admissions process, including the application itself, external references, and all communications. • Produce offer letters and maintain accurate records of acceptances, rejections and waiting lists. • Liaise with academic staff and the Finance Team regarding scholarship and bursary applications for new entrants. • Produce information on scholarships awarded. • Manage and train tour guides. • Work closely with the Foundation Marketing Team and assist with the running of admissions events, taster days and open events. • Work creatively and proactively to achieve the Foundation’s annual pupil recruitment targets. • Be able to deputise for the other Registrars of the Foundation’s three schools during holiday periods and assist during busy recruitment and testing periods. • Be able to work on occasional Saturdays when large events are planned, and be flexible with working hours at busy times of the recruitment cycle. • Liaise with academic staff to organise assessment days, including the set up and invigilation of entrance examinations. • Share best practice with the Registrars of the two Prep Schools. • Follow all King’s School policies and procedures, with particular regard to pupil well-being and safeguarding. Person Specification It is expected that the Registrar (Lower Years) will demonstrate a range of qualities, skills and experience, as outlined below.
