Position

There is a huge need within OCA to support field teams with the routine identification and management of the palliative care needs of patients, and to integrate this care into their existing healthcare provision. However, provision of palliative care remains abstract and therefore not routinely provided despite visible needs. As Palliative Care Nurse Implementer you will provide specific expert implementation support through working directly in the field with the teams to help test and implement the nursing component of the palliative planner application.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri

Duration: 6 months FTC

Location: Where possible, a contract in the MSF office of the successful candidate’s country of residence at the time of the application will be considered, or via the International Office for countries without an MSF office (IRFFG).

Salary: £59,739.12 per annum - MSF UK / IRFFG 12

Job Purpose:

In person presence will be required in Kenya, South Sudan and India for a minimum of three weeks each, before the end of 2025 with a view to project by end of February.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Nursing qualification.
• Extensive work experience as Nursing Manager of Palliative Care projects / activities.
• Good knowledge and on-site work experience in humanitarian settings.
• Proven skills in Paediatric Palliative Care, both from a medical and management perspective
• Good understanding and knowledge of person-centred care.
• Proven experience of working independently under minimal supervision
• Demonstrative teaching capabilities and experience.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills including clinical person-centred communication, communication with families and communities, and communication among medical colleagues.
• Proven networking and representation skills.
• Ability to complete work within specific timescales.
• Fluent English language abilities
• Research experience is advantageous.
• Commitment to the aims and values of MSF
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively and work overseas.
• Strong ability to stick to deadlines and influence others to do the same.
• Willingness to spend up to 70% of the time in the field.
• Demonstrable ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in the practical use of personal IT equipment and Microsoft Office 365 suite. The ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a hybrid working environment utilising Teams, SharePoint, One Drive and Yammer.
