Veterinary Theatre and Diagnostic Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated Veterinary Theatre and Diagnostics support team in The Queen Mother Hospital for Animals. You will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working within the theatre and diagnostics environment and will play an important role helping to ensure the smooth transition of our patients and providing high standards of hygiene and stock maintenance in anaesthesia, diagnostics and our operating theatres.
Duties include:
- Infection control duties within the theatre and diagnostics areas of the hospital
- Assisting with the setup of operating theatres and diagnostic rooms (such as ultrasound, radiography, CT etc.)
- Cleaning of operating theatres and equipment after use
- Assisting our sterilising technicians with the cleaning and maintenance of surgical equipment
- Stocking up consumables
- Laundry
- Patient restraint and assisting nurses within the recovery ward when required
- Assisting the nursing team acting as a circulating assistant on surgical cases
The role is full time, 35 hours per week, working various shifts between Monday-Friday with 1:4 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) with days off in lieu.
This post would suit a friendly team player with some basic experience within a human or veterinary clinical environment who will be enthusiastic and willing to learn. Alternatively, we are also keen to hear from experienced healthcare professionals looking for a change of sector.
The salary scale reflects experience, you can expect to start at the lower end of the scale with progression through the band upon completion of required training.
