Job overview
The post holder will assist, support and help the ward team with general duties.
Be responsible for stock ordering, stock rotation and replenishing.
Setting up, cleaning, and checking equipment.
Reporting faults to estates and electronics and following up any work outstanding or completed
Work in collaboration with other colleagues, professionals, disciplines and agencies involved in supporting the ward, staff and families.
Main duties of the job
- Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. This may include being a runner for equipment needed.
- Act always as a professional role model.
- Develop effective communications with the families, recognising and considering cultural and individual diversity, whilst promoting their equality and rights.
- Act on and report concerns to the line manager related to environmental issues regarding the effects on the physical, psychological, or social delivery of direct care
- Plan and organise allocated work within identified time scales.
- To maintain a safe working environment. Ensuring all equipment is cleaned and ready to be use

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols.
- To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication written and verbal.
- To ensure stock is ordered and rotated on arrival to the ward. Working alongside stores
- To inform ward coordinator and ward manager of any delay in goods arriving or lack or supplies / product recalls.
- Liaise closely with representatives from companies.
- Reporting faults to estates and electronics and following up any work outstanding or completed
- To ensure patient confidentiality.

Essential criteria
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade D
- Information Governance
Desirable criteria
- Basic life support
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Organisational skills
- To be able to work independently and within a team
- Understanding of customer care
- Able to develop and maintain meaningful relationships with staff, children, families and their associates
- Able to maintain confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a hospital environment
- Knowledge of relevant developments in neonatal care
Skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Computer literate across a range of IT programmes
- Ability to prioritise workloads
- Able to communicate effectively with people from varied social, cultural and professional backgrounds
Desirable criteria
- Be able to use databases such as Camis, EPROC
- Awareness of mandatory training expectations
