The BFI is looking for a Programme & Screenings Assistant to play a key role in programme communication with representatives for selected works screening as part of the BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival.
Working with primarily short filmmakers to secure programme and screenings materials as well as keeping representatives up to date on festival business and connecting them with other departments where appropriate. You will also support the Programme and Screenings Coordinator in activity and checks regarding feature film selections.
BFI Flare is our long-running LGBTQIA+ festival, with a growing audience in London and on BFI Player, and one of the most inclusive film events of the BFI’s annual calendar.

Role responsibilities
- Leading on the collation of remaining materials, including Official Selection forms, images and clips for selected short film titles
- Communicating with filmmakers and rights holders on updates as needed
- Ensuring short films are supplied in the right format, at the right time, in the right venue
- Organising the transportation of prints, DCPs, digital files, videos and accompanying paperwork (e.g. transport movement orders) for the Flare short films; collaborating with BFI Despatch and national and international couriers (e.g. Federal Express, DHL etc.) and BFI technical teams where needed
Person specifications
- Demonstrable experience working in a cultural organisation or film festival.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a print transport role.
- Demonstrable organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and to manage and meet deadlines.
- Ability to build effective relationships with key contacts across BFI and stakeholder organisations, and to communicate effectively and tactfully with stakeholders at all levels.
