As our Back End Developer, you will be an experienced software engineer with a strong track record in designing and operating secure, scalable backend services. You will build APIs, data models and integrations that power our web applications and elevate the performance of our services. Your work will elevate service performance and contribute to better outcomes for the people we serve. The software products you deliver will be critical in helping Family Action deliver successful services that impact hundreds of thousands of children and families across the UK each year.
Main Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain REST APIs over serverless functions using TypeScript
• Design and implement scalable PostgreSQL schemas and data models
• Integrate with external services including video conferencing, messaging, and payment platforms
• Ensure robust security practices including encryption, secure authentication, and access control
• Collaborate closely with front-end developers and product managers to deliver cohesive solutions and user-focused solutions
Main Requirements (for details check the job description and person specification):
• Significant experience developing back-end systems for production applications
• Proven expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, including use within serverless architectures
• Strong experience designing secure, performant APIs and data models
• Experience managing PostgreSQL databases including schema design and optimisation
