Summary:
A Data Center Technician is responsible for physical installation, maintenance, and
support of servers and network infrastructure. This role focuses on hardware racking,
structured cable management, inventory control, and coordination of shipping and
receiving processes.

Core Responsibilities

•  Populate servers, network switches, and storage devices following

documented procedures into racks.

•  Execute high-precision cable management for copper and fibre assemblies.
•  Perform inventory audits, update asset management systems, and reconcile

discrepancies.

•  Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, including packaging, labelling,

and documentation.

•  Collaborate with operations, security, and facilities teams for smooth

workflow.

•  Troubleshoot basic hardware and cabling issues and escalate complex

problems to a control room.

Key Skills Required

•  Proven ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy equipment and work at heights

safely.

•  Familiarity with warehouse logistics, shipping protocols, and inventory

software.

•  Comfortable working in variable temperature environments and on shift

rotations.

•  Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
•  Clear verbal and written communication for cross-team coordination.
•  Ability to follow standard operating procedures and accurately document

tasks.

•  Positive attitude, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.

•  Solid time management skills to prioritise tasks under shifting demands.

Desirable Skills

•  Structured cabling standards for Cat6/Cat6a, single-mode and multi-mode

fiber.

•  Proficiency with cable testers, crimpers, and rack installation tools.
•  Basic knowledge of server hardware (RAID configurations, blade systems,

rack PDUs).

•  Experience with asset management tools and barcode scanners.
•  Understanding of ESD precautions, safety practices, and PPE requirements.
