Information & Advice Officer

Age UK Lincolnshire is an independent local charity – a brand partner of Age UK – supporting more than 5,000 people every week, making a real difference to people’s lives. We are looking for an Information & Advice Officer to join our team.

  • 35 hours per week
  • Lincoln based
  • Salary: £26,374 per annum
  • Permanent Contract
  • Driving Licence is essential

The role is mainly office based at our offices in Lincoln but will require some travel to visit clients in their homes who are unable to attend the office, or attend outreach events.

As an Information & Advice Officer you will join an established team of advisors who provide professional and accurate information and advice to older people across Lincolnshire, either in person, virtually or by telephone. The successful applicant will support the development and delivery of the Information and Advice service at all outlets of the organisation and in community settings.

The successful post holder will provide specialist advice and support on welfare benefits and related issues including wellbeing, care and housing, ensuring clients maximize their income and access all entitlements available to them. The role often involves complex casework and signposting to other services.

The successful applicant will have a positive, enthusiastic and friendly nature. An appreciation of the needs and an understanding of the issues affecting older people is required.

Skills needed for the role

  • Very good knowledge of welfare benefits for older people (in particular those of state pension age).
  • Strong communication, listening and problem-solving skills with a positive, proactive approach.
  • Ability to manage a large, diverse and constantly evolving caseload.
  • Good IT skills and experience working on Microsoft 365 and with a web-based caseload management system (ideally Salesforce).
  • Empathy and attention to detail.
  • Proactive approach with ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Self-motivation and strong commitment to service excellence is required.

Full UK driving licence and access to a car is required as you will be expected to attend outreach sessions and complete home visits when required.
