Health Care Assistant – Specialist Nursing Home

Location: Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, Putney, South West London
Salary: £27,082 – £29,794 per annum (dependent on qualification and experience)
Contract type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: 37.5 per week, rotating day and night shifts

The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) is one of the UK’s longest established independent hospitals and a national centre of excellence in neuro-disability care. Based in a Grade II listed building with extensive gardens, we provide specialist services for adults with complex neurological conditions, from post-acute rehabilitation through to long-term and end-of-life care.

The role

We are seeking experienced Health Care Assistants to join our Specialist Nursing Home service. You will provide person-centred care for adults with complex neurological disability, supporting them to achieve the best possible quality of life. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver care that promotes dignity, independence, and wellbeing.

This is a rewarding role requiring resilience, compassion, and the ability to provide high-quality support in a specialist care environment.

Essential criteria

  • Minimum of six months’ paid experience in a UK care setting
  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Adult Health and Social Care
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Confidence in delivering personal care, mobility assistance (including hoisting), and support with eating and drinking
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to support individuals with complex communication needs
  • Ability to work flexibly across days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays

Desirable experience

  • Previous work with individuals with brain injury or complex long-term conditions
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary health or social care team
