Gibbs & Canning: Community Consultation for Inclusive Audience Development
Tamworth Castle is seeking to appoint a heritage and community engagement consultant to deliver a short consultation project exploring the legacy of Gibbs & Canning, the renowned Victorian terracotta manufacturer once based in Tamworth.
The consultant will work with a range of community groups and local residents to engage under-represented audiences with Tamworth’s industrial heritage. They will co-deliver three creative consultation workshops alongside a ceramic artist, ensuring sessions are inclusive, sensory-friendly, and rooted in the Castle’s Gibbs & Canning collection. In addition, the consultant will carry out 1–2 interviews with local historians or community leaders.
The final output will be a concise consultation report (max. 15 pages) with analysis, recommendations, and an accompanying executive summary, due by 7 February 2026. The findings will inform future programming and underpin a heritage funding application.
