Estate Maintenance Technician
Full time | Water Park Lakeland Adventure Centre
Estate Maintenance Technician
The role
We’re expanding our estates team and are looking to appoint a third Estate Maintenance Technician.
This role is about increasing what we can build, fix and improve ourselves, reducing reliance on external contractors and enabling us to take on more ambitious in-house projects.
You’ll be joining an experienced, capable team and working across a wide range of practical tasks, from day-to-day maintenance through to larger improvement and development projects. It suits someone who enjoys variety, practical problem-solving and learning as they go.
The right attitude, willingness to learn and ability to step up to new challenges are the most important attributes.
About Us:
Water Park is a hub of adventure nestled in the stunning southern valley of Coniston 10 minutes from the A590 at Greenodd. The main house is a beautiful mansion surrounded by woodlands and boasts a mile of shoreline on the southern tip of Coniston water. We believe in the transformative power of outdoor activities to inspire, educate, and enrich children from underprivileged backgrounds. From the water to the mountains, we offer a range of experiences that foster personal growth, resilience and other necessary life skills.
The Role:
The work is varied, but will typically include:
- General building and site maintenance, including building and regulatory compliance
- Grounds and estate work (paths, walls, trees, drainage, etc.)
- Supporting in-house building and improvement projects
- Working safely around clients, including children
- Spotting issues early, finding practical solutions and helping implement them
- Occasionally supporting the wider centre operation during busy or unexpected periods, which may include helping with activities, logistics, housekeeping, catering or other practical tasks as needed
Practical Details:
- £30,000 – £32,000 salary (full time)
- Contributory pension, with optional BUPA joining contribution
- 26 days holiday plus bank holidays (Christmas closedown applies)
- Lunch and appropriate PPE provided
- Own transport essential due to our location
- Enhanced DBS check required
About you
You don’t need to tick every box. You’re likely to be a good fit if you:
- Enjoy hands-on, practical work
- Can work independently and as part of a team
- Take pride in doing things properly and safely
- Are adaptable, curious and willing to learn
- Enjoy being part of an outdoor centre “family” and are comfortable working on a busy site with young people present
Any experience in maintenance, grounds work, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical or electrical work, or relevant qualifications, would be an advantage, but they’re not essential.
Our values
These matter to us and are how we evaluate how well you would fit into our team (more detail is available on our website):
Brilliance · Invested · Professional Family · Own It · Growth
