Job Description Support Worker Post: Support Worker Responsible to: CEO Responsible for: Providing drop-in support for young people Work location: Northampton Salary range: £28,090.40 FTE Contract: Hours: 37 hours - 9-month Fixed Term Contract 1 x Full-time / potentially 2 x part-time / Job share - Drop in will be open in Northampton 1pm to 8pm Monday and Friday, 1pm and 6pm Tuesday to Thursday. Flexible working to meet the requirement of the role. About The Reach Partnership The REACH partnership is an umbrella organisation of Northamptonshire based youth counselling and emotional wellbeing support agencies. We deliver a range of counselling and support services for young people across the county. New Support Worker Role The Lowdown, on behalf of REACH has been commissioned by the NHS Northamptonshire to pilot a new drop-in service for young people to access support as and when they need it. Job Purpose To develop a new service for 8 to 25 year olds to support with any issues young people face. This will enable them to ‘drop-in’ to our services for help with providing them appropriate support and improve accessibility to ours and other services to meet their needs. This service will also operate in the well-being café hours on a Monday and a Friday. General Duties Through a person-centred approach based on the I Thrive and trauma centred principles provide: 1. In the moment emotional/practical support for any young person accessing the drop-in service. 2. Work closely with Reach colleagues/ services to ensure the young person gets the best support available. 3. Sign post to relevant services and support with referrals if necessary. Keep up to date with any changes in service provision. 4. Manage any safeguarding concerns that arise and complete personalised safety plans. 5. Advocate for the young person requiring support if necessary and appropriate. 6. Ensure all monitoring outcomes data is recorded and input. 7. Contribute to the presentation of monthly statistical reports and any written reports e.g. case studies, summaries of service delivery and evaluation of the service. 8. Implement best practice through learnings from other Youth Access members nationwide. 9. Participate in regular team meetings and ensure that team meeting minutes are read and acted upon. 10. Collaborate effectively with statutory services such e.g. GPs, schools and local NHS providers. 11. Contribute to the whole Lowdown team to ensure information regarding the service is communicated and the service is running in line with the organisational strategy Organisation Duties 1. Support Worker - Person Specification Essential criteria Desirable criteria Education /Knowledge G.C.S.E level C (or equivalent) in Maths and English A relevant Level 3 equivalent qualification (eg A levels, HND etc) A professional qualification in a related field eg social work, youth work, teaching, teaching assistant, counselling Evidenced A = application I = interview R = reference A Skills Excellent attention to detail, written and spoken communication skills applied in a range of settings (teams, 1 to 1, partner agencies) Skills in counselling and/or emotional support or case work with young people/young adults Ability to empathise with the needs of young people and their families and maintain confidentiality Good time management and organisational skills Computer literacy and inputting data Ability to manage own workload and diary Experience Experience of working with young people and mental health Other attributes Experience of evidencing work delivered/completing monitoring reports/completing client related paperwork A passion for working in the community and a commitment to the following values and ethos: approachable, supportive, non- judgemental, responsive, flexible, adaptable and reliable.
