We’re now seeking a Group Head of Biodiversity — a dynamic and influential leader to drive our biodiversity and nature strategy across the business. Reporting to the Group Sustainability Director, you’ll guide our regional teams in delivering Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), embedding best practice, and representing Persimmon at the forefront of sector-wide biodiversity initiatives.

What you’ll do
- Lead the development and delivery of Persimmon’s biodiversity strategy, policy, and procedures.
- Provide expert guidance and support to regional teams, ensuring consistent, high-quality BNG delivery and compliance.
- Develop best practice frameworks, training, and reporting processes to embed biodiversity into every stage of our developments.
- Establish KPIs and performance reporting to track biodiversity outcomes.
- Advise on legislation and policy, representing Persimmon externally with industry bodies, government, and stakeholders.
- Champion innovation — identifying new technologies and approaches to enhance biodiversity impact.
- Support the creation of exemplar biodiversity projects and partnerships that strengthen our reputation and community value.
What we’re looking for
- A degree in Ecology, Conservation, or related discipline, plus professional institute membership.
- Extensive experience in biodiversity or ecology at a senior level within housebuilding, consultancy, or civil engineering.
- Strong understanding of biodiversity policy, legislation, and BNG methodologies.
- Applied knowledge of the planning system and its interface with biodiversity delivery.
- Commercially astute, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A credible and respected professional, confident in representing Persimmon externally.
- Collaborative, innovative, and resilient — with the ability to lead across multiple teams and regions.
- Hybrid working from one of our UK offices, flexibility for some travel across the UK.
