Outreach Worker - Young Women and Girls
Are you a proactive, collaborative and compassionate individual?
Do you have a proven experience of working and engaging positively with females and/or young people who are/or are at risk of offending, or other vulnerable groups?
If so, St Giles is looking for a Young Women and Girls Outreach Worker to work on a service that takes provision onto the streets of Scarborough to engage with ‘hard to reach’ young women and girls and will see you build trusted relationships and offer person-centred support.

About this key role
Our successful candidate will produce individual support and risk management plans for those we will be providing ongoing support to and promote inter-agency collaboration in the support process, which will see you include appropriate agencies in the delivery of the service.
You will also develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, including Early Help and Youth Justice teams, and Community Safety partners and support individuals to access and engage with support agencies.
We will rely on you to deliver a holistic support service that will include confidence building and self-awareness along with interventions aimed at preventing criminal and sexual exploitation, grooming, violence, sharing inappropriate media content. Closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a success plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future is also a vital aspect of the role, as is maintaining strong links with agencies providing services to the client group.
What we are looking for
- Had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of Scarborough
- If still serving a sentence: To be currently eligible for Release on Temporary License (ROTL). On release, likely to be living within commuting distance of Scarborough. Plus, be willing to provide a DBS check and other disclosure as required, including references from the Prison Service
- Experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and the ability to assess client’s needs
- An understanding of local support services that may be applicable to young people.
- An understanding of the need to use support plans, to enable people to successfully access support services
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written
