A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am an 84 year old woman living in the Pontypridd area with my husband and with close support from my family who are with us every day. I have a very happy disposition and love music, singing and dancing.
I have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease which is at an advanced stage. I am non-verbal but you can get to know what I mean and what I am after. I also have poor mobility so move slowly and need support around the house.
PURPOSE OF JOB
Looking for a PA to support me with personal care, support around the house with domestic tasks and supervision and monitoring at all times to ensure my safety.
This support will allow me to live as independently as possible and remain at home.
HOURS OF WORK
18 hours per week
Flexibility around the hours but daily support for personal care and a block shift for respite is a framework. Respite would ideally be on the weekends.
RATES OF PAY
£14.20 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
- Personal care tasks such as toileting and washing.
- Feeding me and ensuring this is done safely.
- Monitoring my fluid intake.
- Support with domestic tasks around the house.
- Supervising me during shifts and supporting me with routines.
- Supporting with any other necessary tasks and ensuring safety at all times.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
- Female only due to the personal care involved.
- A happy, smiley and joyful person who is interactive and bubbly to be around.
- Someone who is adaptive and can use their own initiative.
- Someone with awareness and experience of Dementia/Alzheimer’s.
- A patient person as tasks can be very slow to complete.
- Someone willing to build a rapport with me.
- Caring qualifications desirable but a willingness to learn or complete courses is beneficial.
- A person who can work around and with my family members who also support me and my husband.
- A reliable and punctual person.
- Someone who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.
The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
