Main purpose and scope of the job
The focus of this role is on preventing domestic abuse by providing support, advice and assistance to adults in the community who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.
- Providing safety planning, support, advice, and assistance to adults in the community supporting them to keep safe in and maintain their current or new accommodation.
- Working to empower and support all victims and survivors of domestic abuse to make positive choices.
- Working in partnership with Southampton IDVA service to deliver Pippa (Prevention, Intervention and Public Protection Alliance) providing initial advice, information and guidance to victims, professionals, and family members.
- Identifying and assessing the risks and needs of domestic abuse victims using an evidence-based risk identification checklist.
- Where necessary, escorting clients attending court, Job Centre or local authority appointments, and on occasion accompanying clients back to their home with a police escort to collect belongings.
- Developing individual support plans to meet individual risks and support needs that client’s face, regularly review cases ensuring that all agencies are meeting the needs of clients. Ensuring effective liaison with agencies regarding case management.
