Director of Saltire National Book Awards

Apply by 11 September for this permanent, part-time role based in Edinburgh.

The role of the Director is to manage and lead the development and delivery of The Saltires: Scotland’s National Book Awards by continuing to build the offer to writers, publishers and readers across Scotland, the UK and further afield. The post advises the Saltire Society Council on the developing shape of the awards, taking the lead on income generation and marketing/PR.

The main priority for the next 3 years is the development and implementation of a strategic business plan to ensure the long-term viability of the Saltire Book Awards. The Director is accountable for the financial sustainability and viability of the Book Awards on a daily and operational basis. They are the public face of the Awards, liaising with members, funders, sponsors, the media, and other stakeholders and should have the knowledge and background to communicate easily but with appropriate authority and gravitas.

The Director will manage the work of a part-time Book Awards Project Manager (currently a fixed term 0.8fte post funded by Creative Scotland) and Saltire Society member volunteers.
