Director for The Wallich Christmas Pantomime at Porters

Summary

We are looking for an experienced theatre Director to join an exciting community pantomime project in collaboration with The Wallich to be held at Porters Cardiff. This production will bring together community participants from homelessness charity The Wallich with a range of skill levels alongside two professional actors to create a fun, inclusive and high-quality performance as part of Cardiff’s Christmas theatre programme.

Role Description: Director

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will work with us to:

• Lead the artistic vision development and delivery of the pantomime production
• Plan and facilitate workshops and rehearsals
• Work collaboratively with community participants, professional performers and project stakeholders
• Support an inclusive and welcoming environment for performers of varying experience levels
• Oversee performance preparation and delivery

Role Requirements

• Proven experience in theatre directing
• Experience working with community groups or non-professional performers
• Experience working with vulnerable, socially excluded groups (trauma-informed creative practice is desirable)
• Strong facilitation and communication skills
• Enthusiastic and able to motivate participants
• Non-judgemental and able to work collaboratively, inclusively and compassionately with a range of personalities and skill levels
• Reliable, consistent and able to remain flexible around the changing needs of the participant group
• Enhanced DBS certificate (desirable)

Project Details

• Location: Porters Cardiff
• Contract Period: 5 October – 4 December
• Performance Dates: Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December
• Fee: £2,000
