Part-time Group Worker (Progression Pathways, Likewise)

Social Care

Project 6

At Project 6, we believe that everyone has the capacity for positive change. We’re a people-first charity supporting individuals and families affected by alcohol and drug use to build healthier, happier lives.

Our Likewise service in Sheffield provides safe spaces where people can build confidence, find connection, and move forward in their recovery journeys.

About the Role

As a Group Worker, you’ll play a vital role in helping people overcome challenges related to alcohol and drug use. You’ll support them one-to-one and in group settings, helping them take the next steps toward recovery, wellbeing, and community connection.

You’ll deliver engaging group programmes (using the 5 Ways to Wellbeing) and provide individual support on everything from relapse prevention to accessing housing or volunteering opportunities.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Running support and recovery groups for people accessing our services.
  • Supporting people to improve their health, wellbeing, and social situation.
  • Helping to remove barriers to accessing treatment and recovery services.
  • Keeping clear and confidential records and contributing to team meetings.
  • Promoting our values

About You

We’re looking for someone who’s:

  • Passionate about helping people make positive changes.
  • Empathetic, patient, and non-judgmental.
  • Able to run groups with confidence and warmth.
  • Skilled at building trust and motivating others.
  • Organised and comfortable managing a small caseload.
  • Experience with substance use or recovery ( whether personal, voluntary, or professional) is valued.
  • Formal qualifications (e.g. NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care) are great but not essential if you can demonstrate relevant experience and a commitment to learning.

Why join us?

At Project 6, we care about your wellbeing too. That’s why we offer:

  • 38 days paid holiday (including bank holidays – pro-rata for part-time staff)
  • Annual salary of £10,282 (equivalent to £14.13 per hour)
  • A generous 5.5% employer pension contribution
  • A flexible 14-hour working week, with a family-friendly 9.30am start
  • A supportive, inclusive team environment where you’ll be valued and encouraged to grow

We committed to equity, diversity, and belonging; we know the best services are built by teams with varied backgrounds and experiences.

Project 6 is committed to being a safe, healthy, and non-discriminatory employer. You will need to abide by our code of conduct, health and safety and HR Policies.
