We’re seeking a Deputy Retail Manager to join our dynamic team and help manage our Oakham shop, with all proceeds directly funding vital community programs.

Role Overview:

As the Deputy Retail Manager, you will be an essential part of the management team, assisting the Retail Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the store. You will play a key role in driving the shop's performance, enhancing the customer experience, and ensuring that the store runs efficiently and profitably. You will also support a team of volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management:Assist in managing all aspects of store operations, including stock management, visual merchandising, and maintaining high store standards.
  • Customer Experience:Ensure customers receive exceptional service by leading by example and implementing best practices in customer interaction.
  • Sales & Performance:Assist in achieving and exceeding financial targets
  • Health & Safety Compliance:Ensure that the store complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Inventory Control:Support inventory management, including stock replenishment, stock audits, and stocktaking.
  • Problem Solving:Address and resolve operational issues or customer concerns promptly and professionally.

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous retail management experience, ideally from a bookshop, or have a passion for literature.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a group of volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A customer-focused approach with the ability to create a positive shopping experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and solve problems under pressure.
  • Knowledge of retail operations, stock management, and health and safety standards.
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude with a passion for retail and customer service.

Hours : 30 flexible over 6 days, including bank holidays and some Sunday working  

Salary: £19,099.98 per annum - £12.21 per hour
