THE ROLE PROFILE
Job Context
The National Gallery’s 10 -Year Strategy (2026 -36) is underpinned by a commitment to deepen audience insight and embed data in its decision -making. The Data & Insight team supports this by generating high -quality research, evaluation and analytics to guide public engagement, commercial and non -commercial product development, and strategic planning. As demand for actionable insight increases, so does the need for a scalable data infrastructure and the in -house capacity to deliver it. The Data Analytics Manage r strengthens our ability to deliver impactful insights, maintain our core reporting infrastructure, and manage the growing volume and complexity of requests across the Gallery. The Gallery is currently undertaking a project to implement a unified data pla tform (Microsoft Fabric), which aims to bring together core datasets in a consistent and well -governed way.
Job Purpose
The Data Analytics Manager leads on the development and delivery of dashboards, models, and insight to support evidence -based decision -making across audience, digital, and commercial priorities. They manage the Gallery’s reporting infrastructure, including our Data Analytics Platform, provide high -quality analysis, and translate complex data into actionable insight. They collaborate closely with colleagues both internally and externally, to ensure infrastructure is suitable for the organisation’s needs, sus tainable, and scalable .
Scope of job
Core Deliver y
• Lead the development of dashboards and reports that support key performance tracking across audiences, digital engagement, and income -generating activity .
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable insight and recommendations for internal stakeholders through reports, briefings, and presentations.
• Work with internal teams and external partners to support the audience data pipeline (e.g. People counters, CRM, ticketing, digital analytics). Ensure high data quality, accuracy, consistency, and documentation .
• Deliver and develop forecasting models, particularly in relation to exhibitions and visitor volumes.
• Support the identification of new audiences through robust data analysis .
Technical and data infra structure
• Maintain and enhance the Gallery’s audience reporting infrastructure, working closely with internal teams and external providers.
• Support the implementation and use of the Gallery’s data platform (Microsoft Fabric).
• Champion data governance, documentation, and responsible data use.
Management an d collaboration
• Manage relationships with external partners where required.
• Work closely with colleagues across Digital, Communications, and Loyalty, Sales and Ticketed Experiences (LSTE) teams to align analytics with organisational needs.
• Provide expert input into data capability planning and contribute to cross - departmental data transformation projects.
Key deliverables
• Accurate, timely, and accessible dashboards covering strategic KPIs.
• Clear documentation and effective oversight of data flows, warehousing, dashboards, and models.
• Robust visitor and exhibition forecasts delivered to support financial and operational planning.
• Delivery of high -impact insight reports and presentations.
• Capacity building and support for data literacy within the organisation.
Key relationships
Internal
• Data & Insight Team, Digital, Communications, Loyalty, Sales and Ticketed Experiences, Information Systems, Exhibitions, Learning, Development, and the Director’s Office.
External
• BI/data partners as required.
Key required skills
• Significant experience in data analytics, including report/dashboard development and insight communication.
• Experience managing or working with cloud -based data infrastructure (including APIs/integrations). Experience of Microsoft stack is highly desirable.
• Experience managing or working with CRM databases. Knowledge of Tessitura is desirable, but not essential.
• Strong technical and data modelling skills (knowledge of SQL is essential. Python, R and/or SPSS are desirable, but not essential).
• Proficiency in visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to convey insight clearly to non -technical audiences.
• Experience working cross -functionally and translating stakeholder needs into data products.
• Familiarity with campaign/CRM analytics, GA4, or digital product performance.
• Desire to support the work of arts, cultural or non -profit sector. Prior experience in the sector desirable but not essential.

Essential minimum qualification on entry
Degree or equivalent experience in a numerate/analytical discipline .

Contract
Permanent, working full time hours of 35 per week.
This post is on the Gallery’s Band E. The salary is £41,623 per annum .
