Hebden Bridge Film Festival is seeking a Festival Assistant to work with the Festival Director, assisting with all aspects of the 2026 festival, including logistics as needed pre-, during, and after the festival.

HBFF features an exciting programme of international and UK films and unique events with industry professionals bringing filmmakers and film lovers together in the wonderful community that Hebden Bridge is famous for.

Role details
  • Fixed-term, part-time contract: W/c 12 January 2026 to w/c 23 March 2026.
    Two then three days per week,except the week including the festival (20 to 22 March),when it will be five days; work schedule to be agreed with the Festival Director.
  • Working from the Hebden Bridge office, with occasional work from home. Must be in the area or in close commuting distance for the duration of the job.

Role responsibilities
  • Outreach campaigns for individual films –Working out campaigns, identifying and contacting target groups, designing and writing for specific social media, visits/ flyers using software like CANVA or similar tools.
  • Asset management for all films:ensure film files/DCPs etc are in correct formats, with trailer, stills, logline, and publicity materials in place; chase up (and sometimes create) if missing.
  • Managing content:providing all films in the correct format for the Trades Club programme, liaising and assisting with Trades Club technician on set up, undertaking technical checks. Liaising with the cinema to ensure all films and slides are provided in good time, especially for the shorts programme
  • Ticketing and website:assist with website content and ticketing system as needed.
  • Social Media:must have experience and be able to create and write copy and reels to promote the festival, ticket sales and each film/filmmaker on – FB, Insta and Twitter platforms before and during festival.
  • Festival guests:communicating and assisting with the timetabling of festival guests and their arrangements
  • Liaising with Festival Board members:assisting as needed. This could include assisting with volunteers, comms, website content and ticketing, managing film submissions, and other adhoc tasks.
  • End of festival:return of assets, clearing posters, etc. following the festival.
Person specifications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work under tight deadlines, prioritise work, time manage and adapt to changing situations. You must have digital data skills and be able to create Social Media content, have a passion for film, and be super organised. The lead-up to the festival may require additional hours, can be fast-paced and may be stressful at times.
