Hours are not guaranteed and will be offered on an “as and when required” basis. Bank staff may be called upon to cover staff absence, provide additional support for learners with higher needs, or accompany learners on educational visits and activities. Hours may vary weekly and will be agreed in advance where possible. Contractual status Zero-hour contract (bank staff pool) Role summary The postholder will support learners, under tutor direction, to create environments where individuals with additional learning needs can achieve beyond their potential. Bank Learning Support Assistants play a vital role in ensuring continuity and quality of provision when extra capacity is needed. You may work one-to-one or with small groups, supporting learners’ education, behaviour, and social development, particularly those with specific learning difficulties, disabilities, or health issues. Being a Learning Support Assistant requires empathy, flexibility, and a commitment to nurturing and inclusive education. Training and occasional meetings may be required outside of your scheduled working hours. 1 Key responsibilities These key responsibilities are neither a comprehensive nor exhaustive list, and the duties may be varied from time to time. o Motivating your learner to achieve beyond their potential. o Supporting and encouraging learners in their work. o Encouraging learner to communicate. o Helping learner to understand instructions. o Ensuring learners feel comfortable and confident in their own abilities. o Helping learners who need extra support to complete tasks. o Supervising group activities. o Assisting tutors to plan learning activities, prepare learning materials, complete records, and carry out administrative tasks. o Supporting tutor in managing class behaviour. o Following a learner’s educational care plan. o Clearing away materials and equipment after lessons. o Taking part in training as required Success in this role will be measured by the effective delivery of key priorities, objectives, and targets set by the organisation. This includes achieving established performance metrics, demonstrating consistent improvement in processes, and contributing to the overall mission of Step into Learning. Additionally, the successful candidate will be expected to promote positive relationships with learners and stakeholders, enhance the quality-of-service delivery, and actively participate in initiatives that drive organisational growth and development.
