We work closely with Kids First Nurseries that are based within our trust grounds at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham hospitals to care for our Trust family's children, they offer care for children from 6 weeks old up to 4 years. Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Nursing Assistant to join our team on Ward 22 (Stroke Recovery Unit) at North Tyneside General Hospital.
Ward 22 is a ward that specialises in the care of stroke patients and their rehabilitation journey and Care of the Elderly.
Whilst experience would be an advantage, full training will be provided.
Works on a shift pattern, early , late, night and long day shifts.

Main duties of the job
To assist the qualified nursing nursing staff in the delivery of high quality nursing care and provide assistance and support to patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team. To be responsible for own nursing care standards and assist in ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic ward environment. Ensure fluid balances, food charts and assessments are completed. Order and serve meals ensuring patients correct nutritional needs are being met. Act as a role model to junior team members and help direct patient care to meet patients needs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate would be required to do the following:
- Accurately record all patient observations, ECGs, perform bladder scans, blood sugar levels and accurate weight recording.
- Complete ward cleaning schedules.
- Assist in ensuring a clean, safe and pleasant ward environment.
- To adhere to trust policies.
- To utilise trust resources effectively.
- Take personal responsibility in completing tasks within the role and undertake tasks under direction from ward team members.
- Share knowledge and skills with all new members of staff, including students.
- To take personal responsibilities for achieving agreed objectives through the appraisal process.

Essential criteria
- Level 3 qualification in a healthcare related subject or a portfolio of equivalent demonstrable experience
- Completion of competency- based programme or equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge of care and related procedures, clinical observations, relevant legislation

- Previous care experience in a health or social care setting
