As an advice volunteer, you will help clients navigate complex systems and empower them to feel more in control of their lives. You will provide confidential and holistic advice in the areas of welfare benefits, housing and debt.
You will:
- Use sensitive listening skills to explore the client’s issue(s) and help them find a way forward.
- Complete detailed case records using our confidential Case Management System.
- Be supported by the Advice Volunteer Supervisor, the Advice Service Manager and the Advice Team.
- Signpost to Manchester Mind’s other services or external services when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality, unless a safeguarding issue presents.
- Help us to improve the service that we provide.
- Attend training when required.
- Commit to volunteering on a regular basis.
We are running a 4-part advice training course for new volunteer advisers. These interactive sessions will take place on the following dates, starting at 10am and finishing at 2pm:
- Tuesday 27thJanuary
- Tuesday 3rdFebruary
- Tuesday 10thFebruary
- Tuesday 17thFebruary
