We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to cover this Communications and Engagement Co-ordinator role on a temporary basis during the absence of the current postholder on maternity leave – currently expected to start on 3rd November, for a maximum of 12 months. The position is advertised for 37 hours per week (1665 annnualised hours contract), but part-time hours working 3 or 4 days per week would be considered for the right candidate.
You will be able to empower student connection and participation by contributing to the planning and delivery of communication and engagement strategies that are insight-driven, gather meaningful insight into the student experience, and are commercially informed.
The role plays a key part in making student voices visible and valued — combining creative outreach with data-driven evaluation to enhance engagement, elevate the student voice, support the strategic goals of UPSU, and grow revenue through promotional partnerships.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Create compelling, student-centric content, in collaboration with staff, officers, and student contributors, that speaks to the student experience and drives action.
- Act as a visible presence at UPSU events and forums, championing student voice, engagement, and participation.
- Build relationships across the student body to ensure diverse input into communications and service development.
- Support the successful delivery of income generating activities especially those related to sponsorship, media and digital sales.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of feedback tools (surveys, polls, focus groups) to capture student opinions and experiences
- Maintain UPSU’s website with up-to-date, accessible, and user-focussed content.
- Train and support staff in digital publishing through the website (MSL) and social media with the aim of fostering digital confidence in the staff body.
Requirements include:
- Minimum GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Experience of working within a communications, PR and/or marketing role.
- Experience of writing content for a variety of audiences across multiple platforms (blogs, social media, email, web and print).
- Demonstrable experience of managing social media accounts.
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders.
Why join UPSU?
- A supportive, friendly workplace where you’ll make a real difference to students.
- Opportunities for training and personal development.
- UPSU closes over Christmas, giving you valuable extra time off to recharge.
If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
