Job Description
Please note this is a hybrid role based on the successful candidate working at least two days a week in our London office. Remote contracts would not be considered for this role.

Purpose of Role
As a Junior Video Editor (FTC) at Comic Relief, you’ll bring ideas to life on screen, turning briefs into dynamic and engaging video content, from factual storytelling to celebrity features and brand campaigns. You’ll collaborate with a talented team of creatives to craft content that connects with audiences across social, broadcast, fundraising, and corporate platforms.
Working within our in-house Production team, you’ll be at the heart of post-production, keeping up with the latest editing trends, supporting smooth edit suite operations, and helping our Edit Assistant grow in their role. Your work will ensure Comic Relief’s content is polished, impactful, and ready to inspire action.
Key responsibilities

Craft engaging and impactful video content across multiple platforms, helping teams connect with audiences in meaningful ways.

Collaborate with Producers and the Head of Creative Services to shape briefs, plan timelines, and guide projects from concept to delivery.

Take creative ownership of edits, uncovering compelling stories and turning rushes into content that resonates and inspires action.

Champion diverse representation on and off screen, ensuring all edits reflect Comic Relief’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Work with Producers and Marketing teams to create graphics, animations, and supporting elements that enhance campaign toolkits.

Stay curious and experimental, exploring new editing techniques, storytelling approaches, and emerging trends to keep content fresh and relevant.

Contribute ideas and insight during ideation and strategy sessions, helping the Creative Services and wider Production teams push creative boundaries.

Maintain visual consistency and quality by following campaign style guides, look-and-feel documents, and brand standards.

Mentor and support the Edit Assistant, helping them grow skills, confidence, and knowledge of workflows, edit suite operations, and archive management.

Guide and brief freelance Editors as needed, ensuring external collaborations align with Comic Relief’s creative vision and production standards.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria

Proficiency in video editing, particularly using Adobe Premiere, with a solid understanding of workflows from raw footage to finished content.

Familiarity in colour grading and knowledgeable about video formats for multi-platform delivery.

Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to follow briefs and established edit processes.

Comfortable adapting to changing priorities with guidance, while maintaining attention to detail.

Clear and collaborative communicator, able to provide updates, flag challenges, and liaise effectively with Producers and stakeholders.

Proactive problem-solver, using initiative to suggest creative and practical solutions to challenges.

Curious and engaged with trends in social media, video content, and pop culture, bringing fresh ideas and approaches to projects.
Desirable Criteria

Experience creating motion graphics, particularly using Adobe After Effects.

Knowledge of post-production workflows, archive management, and best practices for maintaining content libraries.

Ability to apply brand assets and style guides consistently across video output.

Willingness to collaborate with and support colleagues, including freelancers
