Age Concern Hampshire are currently recruiting for a Part-time Caretaker

This is a part time role for someone who will assist the centre with varied hours between Monday and Friday.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide safe and efficient caretaking support to the Centre, including security and maintaining the general appearance of the building and grounds. Observe safe working practices.

• Undertaking minor maintenance repairs and replacements.
• To ensure work is carried out in accordance with all safety, Infection Control and COSHH regulations, Organisation Policy and instructions.
• To ensure the heating, plumbing and electrical services are running efficiently and effectively and report defects to Centre Manager.
• To assist the manager and other staff in ensuring all weekly/monthly tests are carried out in respect of fire, emergency lighting and water safety.
• To clean light fittings and replace tubes, bulbs, fuses, starters and diffusers in accordance with safe working practices.
• To arrange the clearing or repairs to plumbing where necessary and ensure all drains are kept free of debris.
• To ensure all fire doors, fire routes and other pathways are free from overgrowth, weeds, moss and litter.
• Undertake some cleaning duties when required including cleaning of light fittings, cleaning of spillages, carpet cleaning, cleaning window inside and out – where there is safe access.
• To assist with ensuring safe and clear pedestrian access particularly in adverse weather conditions
• To assist with removal of rubbish and ensure recyclable materials are disposed of correctly.
• To, on occasions and as requested by the Manager, support the opening of Centre and de-activating alarm for programmed activities also for closing and activating the alarm afterwards.
• To assist with the moving of furniture when required.
• Advise manager when new stock of materials is required.
• To maintain appropriate records or maintenance and planned maintenance.
• To offer support with gardening, when possible.
• To drive ACH vehicles for reasons of shopping or delivering, as required.
• To undertake general handyman duties are requested by the manager:
• Painting and decorating;
• Basic maintenance of fixtures and fittings;
• Tap washers, fuses, etc.
• To comply with ACH Health and Safety policies.
• Any other reasonable duties.
