HOMERTON COLLEGE CAMBRIDGE

Academic Vacancies

Homerton College intends to appoint several College Research Associates over the course of three rounds during the 2025-2026 academic year, with application deadlines of 30 November 2025, 31 March 2026, and 30 June 2026.

Candidates must be of postdoctoral standing at the University of Cambridge, and may be graduates of any university.

They would normally hold awards made in a national or international competition for the purpose of conducting research in the University of Cambridge or at an associated research institution.

There are no conditions of subject attached to these positions, but the successful applicants are likely to be within eight years of having completed the requirements for the PhD (or equivalent) degree, and candidates who already hold (or intend to hold) a College Research Associateship or equivalent at another College will not be eligible.

Candidates will be selected with reference to their ability to contribute to the intellectual, educational, and social life of the College. The College is committed to diversity and inclusion and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.

The appointment of a College Research Associate will be coterminous with the postdoctoral award held at the University of Cambridge or associated research institution. Appointment as a College Research Associate is normally for three years in the first instance (provided that postdoctoral status and funding remains in place), and Research Associates may apply after the initial three years for reappointment to a term specified by the Research Committee of Homerton College Council.

Various College benefits are offered, including meals, involvement in College research events, the opportunity to receive training in undergraduate teaching or tutoring, and to become involved in Homerton Changemakers.

We also assign a mentor from the Fellowship to any College Research Associate who requests one.

The positions do not come with a stipend, a research allowance or accommodation.

The positions do not carry any teaching obligation, but involvement in College life is expected. Such involvement might, for example, take the form of outreach projects, organising Early Career Researcher events, mentoring students, or teaching.
