Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Outpatients department. To provide a Phlebotomy service within the Main Outpatients Department at the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton. This will provide a service to cover clinics and drop-in requirements of patients within our locality.
There is also a requirement to run satellite clinics within the locality GP practices.
Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role.
Main duties of the job
Successful candidate will need to:
- Draw samples as per best practice standards
- To positively identify the patients as per trust policy
- Adhere to standards of infection prevention and control
- Transport samples safely to the laboratories
- Working off site within local GP practices with an expectation to be able to travel/
Full training will be given within the Trust and competence assessment will be required.

Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
- Level 1 in Maths/English or equivalent demonstrable experience
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent demonstrable experience
Desirable criteria
- Certificate of competence in phlebotomy Working towards / achieved NVQ Level II in Care.
Knowledge & Skills

- Excellent Communication skills
Experience

- Experience of working in the care environment
- Experience providing an effective customer service and dealing directly with members of public
- Experience with working with minimal supervision and high levels of accuracy
Desirable criteria
- Working in a hospital or healthcare setting
