We’re looking for a community-focused team player to help us build effective community engagement across Flitwick. You’ll be organising community projects and events, and working with local groups and organisations to strengthen the town’s community value.

About Community Service Officer

Job Purpose

To organise and oversee community projects, prioritising the Community Strategy to strengthen the Town's community value.

2. To encourage effective local community engagement.

3. To work towards a single town community, whilst celebrating diversity and individuality.

Main Responsibilities

1. To assist the Manager, develop and implement a Community Engagement Policy.

2. To support the Manager in achieving the objectives for your team, and to contribute to the wider Council wide objectives where possible.

3. To have a basic level of record keeping, planning and experience of working with community groups.

4. Assist with delivery of community fridge and related activities.

5. To develop, deliver and evaluate project initiatives and liaise with the Communications and Marketing Manager on their promotion.

6. To service and support the Community Services Committee.

7. To promote the Town Council and its work to the community.

8. To work with Central Bedfordshire Council on its community engagement in Flitwick and how to support local residents with concerns (eg benefit support, housing etc)

9. To help the Council work in partnership to develop a better health outcome for the town.

10. Identify and implement projects that will increase community value for the Council, preparing and submitting bids.

11. Look for ways to engage with and support the more vulnerable in society and the "hard to reach" groups.

12. To observe the principles of customer/client care, equality, quality management and good health and safety standards and to help achieve and contribute towards Local Council Award status.

13. To undertake other tasks allocated by the Council which are within the competence and capability of the post holder.

14. To undertake community engagement event within the community, including children and young people, vulnerable adults, SEND and other community groups.

15. To support the delivery of community events e.g. Family Fun Day, Christmas Lights and Summer Programme.
