This is an exciting opportunity to provide strategic leadership in the design, development, and delivery of UCL’s MBBS programme, with a particular focus on shaping the future UCL Doctor as a clinician fluent in research-informed practice.

As a key member of the Medical School leadership team, the postholder will lead and support research into pedagogical practices within the MBBS programme, generating evidence to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum. They will take a central role in curriculum-focused educational research and oversee student research activities, including guidance on ethics applications.

The postholder will coordinate the UCLMS research portfolio related to MBBS-facing educational scholarship in preparation for the REF 2029 submission and will be encouraged to pursue external research funding. The role also includes contributing to a range of leadership activities across the Medical School to strengthen its research and educational impact.

Appointment details:

  • The post is grade 9, the annual salary for which ranges from £68,284 – £76,244 per annum (including London Allowance). The pro rata salary at 0.8FTE ranges from £54,627.2 to £60,995.2 per annum (including London Allowance)
  • This position is offered on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE), equivalent to 29.2 hours per week.
  • The appointment is available from February 2026 and is permanent.
  • This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.

You will be an experienced academic with a strong background in medical education and pedagogical research, holding a higher academic degree (MD, MS, PhD, or equivalent) and ideally a postgraduate qualification in education such as FHEA. You will have experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, a proven record of high-quality research and publication, and a commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary working. Skilled in leadership, organisation, and communication, you will be able to manage diverse priorities, support colleagues, and contribute to a positive academic culture. Above all, you will uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in research and education.
