Autism Hampshire proudly supports autistic individuals, their families, and the wider community through a comprehensive range of specialized services, expert-led training programs, accessible information and advice channels, and vibrant community groups. What can you do?
Our diverse volunteering opportunities include:
- Supporting our bustling charity shop in Fareham - helping with customer service, merchandising, sorting donations, or window displays.
- Facilitating at our community groups for autistic adults - assisting with activities, providing social support, or sharing your special interests and skills.
- Contributing to vibrant events and creative fundraising activities - from helping at awareness days to supporting sponsored challenges.
- Offering specialized skills-based support (administrative assistance, creative projects, practical maintenance, digital marketing, or technical expertise).
- Becoming a community ambassador - raising awareness about autism and promoting our services locally.
- Participating in consultation groups to help shape and improve our services.
Please note: we do not currently offer volunteering opportunities within our supported living services. For paid roles in these services, please visit our job vacancies.
Do I need experience?
Not at all - we provide comprehensive training, ongoing support, and regular supervision to ensure you feel confident in your role. We genuinely value enthusiasm, compassion, and willingness to learn just as much as prior experience. Many of our most dedicated volunteers started with no formal experience in the field but brought invaluable personal qualities and transferable skills. Whatever your background, we'll work together to find the perfect match for your interests and abilities.
Time commitment
This is entirely flexible and tailored to your availability. Whether you can spare a few hours weekly, fortnightly, monthly, or prefer to support occasional events, we'll collaborate with you to find a volunteering arrangement that complements your lifestyle and other commitments. Many volunteers start with a small time commitment and choose to increase their involvement as they discover the rewards of the role.
