The Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector is unique,vibrant and diverse. It exists because people are moved and motivated to helpand support their communities, places, animals and other causes. Fromamateur sports clubs to local Knit & Natter groups, adventure organisations tomental health support services and beyond! At Bolton CVS, we work alongsidethe sector to support it to do what it exists to do, as well as it possibly can andthe role of Funding and Grants Development Officer plays a crucial part insupporting groups to do what they do, as well as they possibly can. Bolton CVS distributes nearly £2m in grants each year, across multiple fundingprogrammes, with grants ranging from £100 up to £100,000. Around 200 grantsare awarded annually.The Funding and Grants Development Officer is a very important role as theperson will:·Provide comprehensive support to the Bolton CVS grants and investmentsfunction, helping to ensure all processes run efficiently and smoothly. ·Provide assistance, support and guidance to groups to help VCSEorganisations effectively manage, monitor and report on their grant-fundedprojects. ·Provide assistance to voluntary and community groups and organisationsrequiring support to locate and apply for Bolton CVS grants. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate strong customerservice abilities and have excellent communication, project administration andinterpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently. The Funding and Grants Development Officer is a challenging and rewardingrole, and it offers the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives ofpeople in Bolton.About the roleRole SummaryWorking as part of the Funding and Grants Team you will help to oversee thevaried Bolton CVS funding programmes to ensure the smooth running of theprogrammes – from application to final evaluation. You will also providetailored support and guidance to the Bolton VCSE sector to support them inidentifying and accessing our grant funds. You will be an integral part of the Funding and Grants team and your role willbe: To work closely with the Funding and Grants Manager and other membersof the Funding Team to provide accurate and detailed grant administrationsupport to ensure efficient delivery and processes at all stages of ourfunding programme. To provide excellent customer service by delivering tailored one to onesupport, advice and guidance about Bolton CVS’ funding programmes toour member organisations and to Bolton’s wider voluntary and communitysector. To effectively communicate and promote the Bolton CVS fundingopportunities to the sector. This will be achieved through utilising our CRMsystem and website, our existing networks, e-newsletters and bulletins,social media and WhatsApp groups etc.To liaise with a wide range of stakeholders and colleagues to ensure thesmooth running of the grant programmes – this includes liaising with theteam of volunteer grant assessors and helping to organise grant panelmeetings, managing grant data and records, recording andcommunicating grant decisions, liaising closely with the Finance Team toorganise grant payments, updating our CRM system and ensuring theappropriate monitoring, evaluation and reporting of all grants is carried out.About the roleRole SummaryTo work closely with VCSE organisations to help them to tell dynamic andinteresting stories to demonstrate the impact of their grants and theirimpact on the people and place of Bolton as part of their ongoing fundingjourney. To contribute, and work collaboratively as an active member, of the BoltonCVS Funding and Grants Team and to work effectively with the wider BoltonCVS team.About the roleWho we’re looking forThe Funding and Grants Development Officer will play a key role in theBolton CVS team. You will be joining us at an exciting time as the fundingprogramme evolves and grows to support the needs of the Bolton VCSEsector. Are you a people person? The role will require you to communicateeffectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds - from smallcommunity groups to large charities, funders and public sectorcommissioners. Are you passionate about the voluntary, community and social enterprisesector? Ideally, we are looking for someone who understands the local VCSEsector in Bolton (or is keen to learn about the VCSE sector in Bolton). Are you well organised with great attention to detail? The role will requireyou to be good at record keeping and have the ability to write concisereports.Are you a good team player? You will need to work closely with the othermembers of the Funding and Grants team to ensure the complex grantprocesses and functions are working effectively as well as working with thewider Bolton CVS team and colleagues from partner organisations andfunders and across the VCSE sector. Do you have some experience of grant management? Ideally you willunderstand the grant process – either as an applicant or from previousexperience of working for a funder. About the roleWho we're looking forAre you a confident user of IT systems? Our ideal candidate will be anexperienced user of MS Office applications – specifically Excel and Wordand with experience of creating and managing spreadsheets. Do you have experience of working with CRM systems and databases? Therole will require you to manage complex information and data in our CRMsystem and website. Training will be given on our systems.Do you have experience of training, mentoring or supporting others? Therole will require you to work closely with groups and individuals to buildstrong relationships. You will be required to provide tailored, accessibleinformation, advice and guidance about funding to a wide variety of groupsand organisations. Do you have the ability to communicate complex ideas to a high verbal andwritten standard? We need someone who is good at collating informationand can help pull together reports and case studies. Are you creative and good at problem solving? Do you have the ability toact on own initiative without close supervision and to prioritise yourworkload and work to tight deadlines?
