Join the team at ACS Hillingdon as an Commis Chef, supporting the Chef Manager in delivering fresh, nutritious lunches and exceptional catering services. Responsibilities include:
Food Preparation:
- The Commis Chef will assist in the preparation of all lunches and extra catering services
- Assist the Chef Manager in preparation of food products; working closely with the catering team to ensure the operational standards and quality of food preparation and service are consistently high
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised and maintained. This includes cleaning of workstations, utensils, and equipment
- Perform any other reasonable duties required by the Catering Manager or Senior Chef.
Health and Safety:
- To fully comply with departmental HACCP policy, helping to ensure that the maximum score is achieved in local government hygiene inspections
- Ensure that all COSHH procedures are adhered to.
Ordering:
- To assist the CM in ordering of food and non-food products when required
- Assisting in receiving, storing, rotation of stock, and ensuring all products are properly labelled and stored.
IT Skills:
- Use EPOS, Safety Cloud
- Understand deliveries and adhere to cleaning schedules.
Sales:
- Communicate clearly with the CM and provide them with strong operational support
- To help the CM drive sales and maximize student uptake through good planning and customer communication.
Hospitality:
- To help and support the CM with internal and external clients regarding functions and events.
Person specification and experience requirements:
- NVQ Level 1 or equivalent practical experience.
- A working knowledge of HACCP.
- Experience of catering operations is required
- To create, innovate and suggest ideas
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Resilient and adaptable
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- Attention to detail
- A team player
- Currently based in the UK
- Own vehicle and transport to campus is advisable.
Working hours:
- Permanent, term time only role, working 42 weeks
- Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day
- Based at ACS Hillingdon, UB10 OBE
