CitySound Voices are seeking to appoint a Musical Director from September 2026
CitySound Voices is a friendly mixed voice choir based in Bath and currently has around 35 members. We have varied but sound musical experience and knowledge.
We rehearse on Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 pm at St Stephen’s Church, Lansdown, Bath, BA1 5SX. We have social events which the MD will be very welcome to join in.
We usually perform at least three concerts a year in various venues in Bath and the surrounding area, with possible extra events (e.g. charity gigs or lunchtime recitals). We currently have a program for the remainder of 2026.
The group likes to share its concerts with soloists and other choirs. We pride ourselves in giving opportunities to children and young people to perform. We employ a professional accompanist. Our repertoire is varied and encompasses a wide range of musical genres.
Key requirements for the position:
• Experience in leading vocal groups/choirs of mixed ability, and the ability to develop the choir’s performance and technique in a dynamic and motivational manner.
• The candidate should have a good knowledge of a wide variety of musical repertoire to engage both choir and audience.
• Understand the importance of enjoyment of singing whilst aiming for quality in our performance.
• Be comfortable working with professional soloists and instrumentalists. It would be an advantage to have appropriate contacts in the musical world.
• Work with the committee in planning varied programmes. Attendance at monthly committee meetings required where possible.

Interviews will take place in the first half of June and will include an audition with the choir in the evening.
