Person Specification
Essential
C Education to GCSE or equivalent standard
Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (or equivalent)
Some previous contact with young people (particularly those with a history of challenging behaviour) in family situations or school or children’s residential establishments or in voluntary activities with young groups
Ability to understand and recognize presenting behavior and confident in providing emotional and physical security for young people through empathy, resilience and the application individualized routines, boundaries in line with the homes statement of purpose and Nugent's values
Effective communication skills including listening and counselling skills.
Ability to handle conflict and use initiative
Team player who contributes to an effective staff team
First rate written skills ensuring effective records are maintained at all times
Desirable
Recognised Social Work Qualification
C Relevant Education or Childcare Qualification
Some understanding of Health and Safety Procedures, Restraint issues, the law, Anti Discriminatory Care Practices, Allegations and Complaint procedure
