Art & Textiles Technician Job Description & Person Specification November 2025 Responsible to: Head of Creative & Performing Arts Line manages: N/A Job Overview The Art & Textiles Technician will support the Head of Art and Specialist Art Teacher by setting a high standard of professional conduct, enabling the Art department (Years 1-11) to run smoothly, and ensuring that the children are safe, learning and happy. The Art & Textiles Technician is responsible for: Duties and Responsibilities: Maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Keeping tools and equipment in good working order. Stock control and ordering of items as required and in consultation with the Head of Art. Assisting the Head of Art and Specialist Art Teacher in managing resources efficiently. Maintaining the Art display boards, in consultation with other department colleagues. Assisting the children in their work as required by other colleagues. Preparing teaching aids and project materials as requested by colleagues. Assisting children with their own personal projects. Painting scenery/props for plays and productions. Preparing work for display purposes, especially on Open Days. Ability t confidently thread and operate a sewing machine. Attending INSET training at the start of each term and departmental meetings as Loading, maintain and organising work for the kiln. required Assisting in the compilation of the department’s annual development plan. Providing general assistance, as required, to ensure the smooth running of the department. Complying with the School’s code of conduct including abiding by a code of confidentiality. School matters should not be discussed outside school. Experience & Qualifications Keys Skills & Knowledge: Art and / or design practice and knowledge is essential Good knowledge of sewing The ability to paint scenery or make props for the School plays and productions is desirable but not essential This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties. Probationary Period This role is subject to a probationary period of 12 months from the start of employment, and may be extended at the School’s discretion.
